Parenting Skills Training
This program provides instruction, hands-on practice and information regarding children's developmental needs, discipline and limit setting to parents who are at risk of or who have had children placed in foster or alternative care.
Goodwill also offers a Parents Anonymous(R) program in Stark County. Parents Anonymous(R) is a national organization that promotes mutual support and parent leadership in order to build and support strong, safe families. Weekly support groups provide parents with a safe, non-judgmental environment to gain support from other families. There also is a Children's Program offered simultaneously for children whose parents are attending the support group. For more information on a schedule of support groups, please e-mail the program coordinator at parentsanonymous@goodwillcanton.org or call her at 330-445-1074. For information on the National Level, please log onto www.parentsanonymous.org.
Goodwill staff members are First Aid and CPR certified. Goodwill staff participate in a minimum of 10 hours of inservice training each year in areas including but not limited to diversity, working with individuals with disabilities, non-violent crisis intervention, bloodborne pathogens, workplace violence, drug-free work place, and emergency drill procedures.
